Episode 1 introduced our characters. Episode 2 Introduced our journey. Episode 3 introduced our world. The Southern Air Temple is a grim yet powerful episode that establishes the dark tone of the world that Avatar the Last Airbender takes place in. A brilliant piece that provides just enough time to feel the weight of reality on everyone’s shoulders.
The Avatar Returns is clunky and jarring experience, which is only more exacerbated after such a well crafted and enjoyable pilot episode. While a necessary step to catapult our characters into their journey, it does so in a rather uncofmortable manner. Hopefully Episode 3 has smoother skies for us to ride on.
Bloodstained is a beautiful presentation marred by the antiquities of the genre. To a fault, it fulfills its role as a spiritual successor to Castlevania. While an enjoyable experience, the weight of its legacy prevents it from ever truly shining.
Your place in the world is dictated upon birth by no more than your eye color. What happens to society when the status quo is challenged by something that falls outside of the expected.
The Warriors of Kyoshi’s strongest offering is the depth it delivers for Sokka’s character. Everything else feels like fluff built around the core that is Sokka’s interactions with Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors. Also, this episode easily showcases one of the most glaring issues withing the series… scale.
